In 1937 the whole of Britain was thrown in chaos as the new king, Edward 8th broadcast to the nation that he intended to give up the throne for the woman he loved – Wallis Simpson. This talk examines the circumstances that led up to this vital moment in Britain’s history, the main players in the drama and the impact and consequences of that radical decision.
